For non-civil service positions, you can apply now through this Web site!  For civil service jobs, you should apply through the State Civil Service Commission’s Web site.

Remember, depending upon the kind of work you’re interested in, you can increase your odds of finding a job by submitting applications to both Web sites!

Non-Civil Service Jobs

Most people say it takes about 40 minutes to use this Web site to apply for non-civil service opportunities.  To prepare, make sure you have some basic information about yourself—such as details about your educational and work history—and an active e-mail address.

How to Apply

Identify an Opportunity

Use the search tools to find opportunities that interest you.  When you find one, click on the position title and carefully read the description, qualification requirements and all other information.  If you think it’s a good fit, click on “Apply” from within the posting to submit an application.

When you click “Apply,” you will have the choice of creating a new account or—if you’re a returning user—providing your user name and password to access your existing information.

Create an Account

The first time you apply, you should opt to create a new account.  In doing so, you will be directed to a “Government Jobs” screen.  “Government Jobs” is the database that powers this system; despite the change in graphics, you are still using the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s non-civil service jobs system.

Create an Application

Once you have an account, create an online application that you can use to apply for as many postings as you like.  Be sure to complete all required fields and include information on all relevant education and experience.

If the particular job you’re applying for requires additional information, you may be asked additional, specific questions. Your responses will be added to your online application for that position only.

Apply and Confirm

After you have completed all sections of the online application, click the “Go to Confirm Application” button near the top of the screen.  If you don’t have time to finish the application, you can save your work at any time by clicking on “Save and View Application” at the bottom of the screen.

You will be asked to review your responses one last time before you click “Confirm Application.” 

Read the statement that follows and click “Accept.”  You will see a message on your screen to confirm that you application has been successfully submitted.
