Finding Inspiration

"My admiration for the veterans inspired me to better myself and further my education. "

Many of us are fortunate in our careers to encounter people and workplaces that motivate us to aim higher. For Sharon Piner, the Southeastern Veterans Center (SEVC) is that place.

Sharon started as a part-time food service worker at the center in 2007. Within a year, she had worked her way up to a full-time nurse aide position and had her sights set on bigger goals.

Sharon continued her studies, earning her degree in Practical Nursing/Health Care Administration and her Practical Nurse license. The hard work paid off when Sharon was hired into a full-time LPN position.

“I really enjoy the people I work with, they’re like family to me.”

Although Sharon has accomplished a great deal since joining the SEVC, she doesn’t have any plans to stop growing.
