"I am so grateful for the opportunity given to me by working for the clerical pool! I absolutely love every minute of the job I am in and I consider it a once in a lifetime opportunity."
The Temporary Clerical Pool (TCP) provides temporary staffing to state agencies located in the Harrisburg area. Employees enjoy a variety of assignments and the ability to gain skills and experience. Those how stand out are often referred back to agencies for permanent positions.
Tina Barnett-Novosel is an example of the success of the TCP. She applied in 2015 after a career in the banking industry.
“I was lucky enough to be placed as the scheduler for Dr. Rachel Levine, the state Physician General,” said Tina. Before the end of her first assignment, Tina was asked to stay permanently as the executive secretary to the physician general.
Tina job duties now include coordinating the physician general’s schedule, assisting with outreach events and working with staff members to ensure the office runs smoothly.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity given to me by working for the clerical pool! I absolutely love every minute of the job I am in and I consider it a once in a lifetime opportunity, said Tina.”
“The TCP is a great way for people to ‘get a foot in the door’ and for hiring managers to get to know a prospective employee before making a job offer,” said Kory Auch, Deputy Secretary for Human Resources and Management. “In fact, over 3,000 TCP staff have been promoted to full time, permanent positions with the commonwealth.”
